Join us for a one-of-a-kind holiday experience as Downtown Cambridge comes alive with light, sound, and community spirit!
🕕 6:50 PM – Opening remarks at City Hall Civic Square (50 Dickson Street)
🎵 7:00 PM – Countdown and start of the walk through downtown
Begin at City Hall Civic Square and follow a magical route illuminated by 30+ light installations throughout the core. Participants are invited to bring portable speakers or boomboxes to play one of four tracks of Phil Kline’s iconic composition — together creating a mesmerizing, layered soundscape that fills the streets with harmony and light.
✨ Local businesses will be open late until 9 PM for one night only — so stop in, shop, and soak up the festive atmosphere!
🕯️ Local ambassadors will be handing out Downtown Shopping Directories to help you explore cafés, restaurants, and shops along the way.
Cambridge City Hall Holiday Market
The Downtown Cambridge BIA is proud to support the Cambridge City Hall Holiday Market, taking place December 5–7, 2025 at Cambridge City Hall — a festive three-day celebration filled with local vendors, twinkling lights, and holiday cheer in the heart of the city.
✨ On Saturday December 6th, visitors can enjoy:
• Live strolling carollers bringing festive energy to the downtown streets
• Local ambassadors handing out Downtown Shopping Directories to encourage exploration of nearby shops, cafés, and restaurants
• Surprise Downtown Cambridge Gift Card giveaways ($5–$25) as random acts of kindness for holiday shoppers
These efforts are designed to create a seamless downtown holiday experience, connecting the excitement of the City Hall Market with the authentic, local shopping and dining that make Downtown Cambridge a special place to visit during the season.

This year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place in Queen’s Square and promises to be a memorable evening for the whole community.

Enjoy festive fun with sing-along carols, a choir, guest speakers, and the joyful chime of church bells. Be sure to grab a Beavertail and don’t miss the special return appearance by The Grump, our unofficial town crier for the evening!
Keep an eye out for The Grump as he tours downtown throughout the evening, spreading his own brand of holiday mischief and reminding everyone to shop local this season.
Local ambassadors will also be on-site distributing Downtown Shopping Directories, encouraging visitors to explore nearby shops, cafés, and restaurants while attending the event!
