ABOUT THE DOWNTOWN CAMBRIDGE BIA

The Downtown Cambridge Business Improvement Area (BIA) plays a vital role in the beautification, promotion, and enhancement of our vibrant downtown core.

As a valued business or property owner and member of the Downtown Cambridge BIA, you have a voice in shaping the future of Downtown Cambridge! Beyond our core activities, we offer targeted programs to enhance your business. These include the Downtown Cambridge Gift Card Program, Signage Grant, member mixers, information on other grant opportunities, and opportunities for print and digital marketing. Additionally, we support tourism initiatives and organize events to foster community engagement and growth!

Our board of directors, composed of fellow business and property owners, guides the strategic priorities of our organization. They consult with you to identify priorities and determine how we allocate our time and resources! The pillars under which our work falls, include:

ADVOCACY

We collaborate with government bodies, community associations, and local law enforcement to address your concerns, from truck diversion, economic development, major reconstruction projects, funding and more ensuring your interests are represented and acted upon.

MARKETING & EVENTS

Our team develops comprehensive marketing and communication programs, digital, print and experiential to promote our area. This includes campaigns and initiatives such as the Main Street Road Closure, new works in The Galtway and Art In The Open Cambridge. Learn more about some of our accomplishments and watch for new initiatives.

STREETscaping & maintenance

Our team helps keep Downtown Cambridge clean, welcoming and vibrant through streetscaping, seasonal planters, public spaces, seating and ongoing maintenance. We monitor the downtown, identify maintenance needs and work with the City of Cambridge to submit requests and follow up on issues that help keep our community looking its best.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Bettering Our Community Together

The Board of Directors is a local board of the Municipality nominated by the general membership and appointed by Council, of whom, two may be members of Council. The remaining members consist of businesses, property owners, and/or persons voted in by rate-paying members, elected every four years in conjunction with Municipal elections. The Board represents the BIA membership and advocates on their behalf. The BIA holds an Annual General Meeting, at which point annual budgets are approved by the membership and other items of interest are presented.

If you are a property owner or business owner in Downtown Cambridge and are interested in joining any of our committees or our Board of Directors, please contact the BIA office; 519-622-3510 or info@downtowncambridgebia.ca

We encourage our members to become active participants in the Downtown Cambridge BIA and have a say in how we maintain, develop and promote Downtown Cambridge as a safe, healthy and prosperous place to live, work and play.
